Since 1990, Joanie has formatted countless theses at SFU, and has been recruited by students from other universities and educational institutions as well, particularly by those looking for help with APA requirements. In addition to knowing APA's standards, she is also versed in MLA, Chicago/Turabian, and SSA styles for footnoting and referencing. She is considered an expert in Word, and able to troubleshoot problems and convertibility issues for a variety of programs and operating systems.  Joanie is also proficient at formatting for library requirements, creating and manipulating tables and figures, editing images/graphics, and creating images of equations, foreign words, questionnaires, letters, etc.).  In short, Joanie can handle aspects that others find problematic. She has created a technically sound template that can be altered for any institution or publisher's requirements. 

A natural by-product of her skillfulness, Joanie is sensitive and flexible in her approach.  She calmly helps people face-to-face or long distance, and has been called upon to support those as far away as France, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Peru, Portugal, the UK, etc.  With extensive experience in teaching computing programs to others in both one-on-one and workshop environments, Joanie has a gift for making things simple, taking-off the pressure, and helping others to understand and learn more about the programs they use and technology in general.
